I thought it would be a good idea to update my "about me" post from January. I am completing my last term at LBCC this spring and will transfer to PSU's Honors College in the Fall. I'm still majoring in psychology and will be pursuing a career in research. This will include a lot of writing, so I chose feature writing as my last course to further improve my skills in narrative writing. I am also working for the commuter as a formal contributor.
I look forward to diversifying my writing skills and building networking abilities through interviews.
The first of my three goals is to institute habits that will make me immediately interpret deadlines as due dates and not "do" dates again. I am going to require myself to start a task the day it is assigned to or made up by me. The only requirement is that the work session for that specific task has to last at least five minutes, which does little other than take my attention away from other things I could be doing, so I know I will turn most of these into meaningful work periods once I get over the hurdle of starting.
My second goal is to structure, plan, and adjust my interviews better than I have previously. My notes have been listed by question previously, but that makes it so I have to keep flipping through pages constantly and repeatedly lose my place. I'm rather awkward when approaching strangers in public, so I should probably think of conversation starters beforehand. I think this will lead to my stories having a better organizational flow.
My final goal is to keep my digital materials well-organized this term. I haven't properly organized my folders for classes on my laptop for over a year. I'm tired of fishing for things on my desktop, so a cleanup is needed.
